The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requires all licensed childcare providers to hold current certification in adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and First Aid — with a hands-on skills component. 100% online certifications are not accepted.

All classes are held at our training center at 7605 NW Aurora Ave, Urbandale, IA 50322. We are centrally located in the Des Moines metro — approximately 12–14 minutes from downtown Des Moines via I-235 W, 8–10 minutes from West Des Moines via IA-28, 7–9 minutes from Johnston via Merle Hay Rd, and 18–20 minutes from Ankeny via I-35 S. Free parking is available on site.
We offer three courses: American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid ($99, for teachers, childcare providers, and the general public), AHA BLS Provider ($99, for nurses, EMTs, physicians, and dentists), and AHA ACLS Certification ($250, for advanced clinical staff including ICU nurses, paramedics, and physicians). Initial and renewal pricing is the same for all AHA courses. Every student receives their digital certification card the same day.
Yes. Eastern CPR Des Moines is an AHA Authorized Training Center. AHA BLS includes a 1–2 hour online HeartCode portion completed independently before your session, plus approximately 60 minutes of in-person skills. CPR/First Aid takes approximately 4 hours in class with no online prerequisite. ACLS typically takes one full day. All students receive their official digital AHA or Red Cross certification card the same day they complete their skills session. Certification is valid for 2 years.
